7:30 PM, A powerful explosion at popular bakery near Jewish prayer house killed nine people and 45 got injured. It is the first major attack after 26/11 carnage. As per the reports coming in it doesn’t look like a normal blast. It occurred when someone opened an unclaimed bag.
“It is most probably a terror attack. Forensic experts of CBI and team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials are being airlifted to Pune to assist the state police in the investigations,” Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai said.
Pune’s Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh nine people were killed in the blast, five of them women, and 45 injured.Quoting information from the State Government, Mr. Pillai told mediapersons in New Delhi that one each of the killed and the injured are foreigners said but could not give the nationality.
Germany Bakery is a popular venue here and is visited by a lot of foreign nationals. The injured, meanwhile, have been rushed to the nearby Sassoon Hospital. The number of the injured is expected to rise.
